Alarm Clock with Coffee and Orange Juice

Some of you might remember about a year ago, when we reported on the Wake n’Bacon, an alarm clock that wakes up the use with the power fresh-cooked bacon. It would appear another designer has found another way to harness the power of breakfast to wake you up.

As you can see from the picture, this particular device uses the power of beverages rather than entrees to give you a “great day in the morning”. So maybe you need the citrus smell of orange juice to get you up, but some of you might require the excess caffeine kick of coffee.

It would appear that the user is responsible to change out the water, filters, and flavoring required to make such a device a reality.

One would have to wonder if this would really work. I don’t think that the smell of breakfast beverages alone would have the power to wake me, so someone had better put a bell or some ringtone on this concept device.

Yes, it is still a concept device, made by our friends at Yanko design. We’ve seen great designs come from them before, and we’ll see them again. If this one ever becomes reality, then you might see a future with more coffee and OJ spills by the bedside.

The Gastar miGrill Tabletop Gas Grill with Built-in Speakers

If you’re looking for a new grill for this summer, this would be a great one to consider.  First of all it has the retro feel to it and it comes in great colors.  Then it also serves as an iPod dock to keep your tunes going while you’re outdoors grilling.   This gas grill would be a great way to keep you and any guests entertained, in more than one way.  First of all because no one can resist well made food fresh off the grill, plus the music would be a great way to spend a warm summer day.

The speakers themselves are powered by 4 AA batteries or you can use the included adapter and plug it in.   The grill also features a cooking surface and drip pan that is dishwasher safe to make clean up a bit more easy for you.  The built-in speakers are said to be powerful and will not only work with iPods, but any other type of MP3 player as well.  It is available in red, black as well as silver. The Gastar miGrill Tabletop Gas Grill is being sold for $129 from Meijer.

Lockheed Martin’s HULC Exoskeleton

It would appear that the giant aircraft maker company Lockheed Martin has developed an actual working exoskeleton. That’s right, one of those wearable strength-booster things plucked right out of science-fiction is now working reality!

Lockheed Martin calls this exoskeleton the HULC. Clearly, it takes its name as homage to the superhero Hulk, but, practically speaking, it reminds me of Iron Man, without the full-body metal suit.

The HULC is a “hydraulic-powered anthropomorphic exoskeleton that provides users with the ability to carry loads up to 200 lbs for extended periods of time and over all terrains”. Note the soldier carrying the bomb. I am assuming that the HULC is taking the weight, and preventing back strain.

As for the power of the HULC, it is completely battery-powered. I have heard that the exoskeleton is quite flexible, and its design is “power-saving”, to save on energy for secret missions.

So is this the age of the super-soldier? Remember in Iron Man how one of the bad guys said that you could conquer Asia with twelve Iron Man suits? Just imagine what an army of HULCs could do.

I don’t really have much information on this, but I’m guessing Lockheed Martin will only market this to the military. Too bad. I could think of a lot of private uses for this.

Traveler’s Leg Massager

Did you ever get those pains in your legs from when you sit too long? For example, say you are on a transatlantic flight, and you’re on the window seat, blocked by two passengers who really hate it when you step over them.

If so, you might want to get the Traveler’s Leg Massager. All you need to do is strap it to your calf or foot, and it will stimulate the leg-bone by expansion and contraction of the leg muscles. It is the same method that hospitals use with compression boots to stop sedentary conditions that will eventually lead to deep vein thrombosis.

In addition to the “throbbing” feature of this device, it has three massage modes that might help alleviate the pressure that comes from an unhealthy habit of sitting around too long, for any reason.

You don’t have to be sitting by a power outlet when you are wearing this device, as it runs on two AA batteries that are good for five hours worth of power.

If you have a life where you sit down way too much, then you might want to invest the Traveler’s Leg Massager for about $149.95 on the ever-so popular Skymall site.

Just one final thought: this Traveler’s Leg Massager looks a lot like one of those ankle bracelets that they put on people who are under house arrest. So when you are flying, and you put on the Leg Massager, the passenger next to you might ask: “Are you sure you should be traveling in your…condition?” Better be prepared with a good response for that one.

The USB Rechargeable UFO Speaker

It doesn’t get much better than when aliens and technology meet.  Sadly aliens didn’t create it and it’s far from being advanced technology.  However, it is in the shape of a UFO, which is alien enough for me.  The rechargeable speaker is small enough to pop it in your pocket or book bag, so that it will always be with you when you’re in need of music.  Plus, not only is it alien friendly, but it is plenty affordable and doesn’t actually look cheap.

It’s one of the few portable speakers I’ve seen off of GizGeek that doesn’t look too shabby.  It might be that the sleek black keeps it simple, as well as preventing it from appearing cheaply made.  The on/off switch has a blue LED power indicator.   It comes with a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and it will work with any type of MP3 player as well as your computer.  The top hatch opens up, either for looks or to allow the speaker to transmit sound a bit better, they don’t actually explain that part.  You can purchase the speaker for $15.

The EverGreen Chinese Horoscope MP3 Players

Reading through horoscopes is always fun and if you’re into it a great deal, likely you’ve found out your Chinese horoscope sign.  Those are done more by the year, rather than by the month.  Well now you can have a tiny MP3 player in the shape of your sign.  It’d be a great and cheaper alternative to those that don’t find the Nano or Shuffle quite cute enough.

Keep in mind that when you choose which MP3 player you would like, they have the names of the animals slightly different than they are traditionally called within Chinese Astrology.  Such as the ox is listed as a bull and the rat is listed as a mouse.  It’s not difficult to figure out what they meant though.  To control the 2GB MP3 player, the controls are on the back.  The 2GB of storage will get you about five hours of play time and it will cost you Â¥2,860.00 or just under $30.
