The Ultimate 5-in-1 Geek Pen

Here’s a great gift for that special geek in your life, even if that special someone is you.  It is not only a fancy ballpoint pen, but it has several other features to go with it.  For one being a little LED light with a flexible shaft to make it so that you can point it at whatever you’re working on.  Then there will be no need to turn on a light for your nightly offline journal.  You can just sit alone in the dark and ponder the inner workings of the universe and creep out everyone around you.  It’s a win situation all around.

It also has a stylus for when you’ve managed to lose yours or just don’t have one handy.  The UV light and red laser pointer are also likely to give you hours of entertainment.  With this you’ll have all of your mini gadget needs well covered.  It of course came from Think Geek, who is always looking out for geeks to make sure they have all the necessary gear.  You can pick it up for $9.99 on their website.

Paper clip shaped Graffe Electric Radiator

Heaters are usually far from attractive, but they do their function, so we overlook that they don’t blend in with the rest of our home quite as well as we’d like.  It’d be nice though to for once have a heater that looks nice and you can smile upon fondly for its looks as well as the fact that it’s pumping out the heat you’re currently enjoying.  Well with this heater you could choose the finish and enjoy a heater with an interesting shape.

The paper clip shaped heater can be hung either horizontally or vertically, giving you more options as to where you could hang it.  It comes in several different colors as well as the classic chrome look, which is likely to go over the best with most people.  With the design of this heater, it could not only keep you warm, but you could heat up a towel as well.  Making it so that you don’t have to pay for both this and the towel warmer.  The down side of having such an attractive heater is of course the price.  You’ll end up paying anywhere from 590 to 1,190 Eruros.

Striker’s LED Magnetic Light for awkward lighting conditions

When you’re stuck working on something in a dark corner, lighting is always a pain.  With anything from changing a tire or fixing a leaky sink, you’re already usually contorted in strange angles, but trying to position a flashlight all the while working on what you’re doing is a bit of a pain.  Well this cool magnetic light makes any job just a little easier and makes sure that you have the ideal lighting for the job.  It’s a bit better than clamp on lights, since you don’t always have anything decent to clamp onto.

Since it does have so many magnets attached to it, it can flip around in any direction giving you more options to get the angle you desire.  You would just have to be careful of the magnets being around any hardware that might be sensitive to magnets.  The LED light is wide angle to shine light on a wider area.  It’s about the size of the golf ball and features 12 different magnets.  The Striker Magnetic LED Light is also plenty affordable, you can pick it up for $9.

Alaska Airlines offer in-flight Wi-Fi

There is no running away from it, that’s for sure. I’m talking about the prevalence of Wi-Fi networks around us, just take a stroll down any street in an urban area and chances are you’ll discover plenty of Wi-Fi networks and hotspots available, ranging from hidden to secured and unsecured ones. Of course, one of the final frontiers for Wi-Fi connectivity would be while you’re in the air, but soon even that ceiling will be removed 30,000 feet in the air. Alaska Airlines is the latest carrier to offer the in-flight Wi-Fi option for passengers traveling on a specially equipped Boeing 737. This service will rely on satellites instead of cellular towers in order to keep the entire plane connected to the Internet, giving you another alternative to keep yourself occupied instead of relying on boring old in-flight movies.

This service will kick off with a two month trial that will run on Thursday with a flight between Seattle and San Jose, California. All Wi-Fi connections will be free on board at the beginning of the trial, and customer feedback is essential in order to determine future pricing. Readers who will be participating in the feedback, is it too much to ask a favor from you to write down the lowest fee possible? Once the 60-day trial is over, Alaska will get down to business by determining its schedule for rolling out the service across its fleet. Currently, the airline serves more than 90 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

We’d suggest getting a long lasting battery for your notebook if you’re thinking of taking advantage of Wi-Fi connectivity while in Economy Class, since many planes won’t come with a power outlet unless you’re in Business or First Class. How much are you willing to fork out for unlimited access throughout the flight, or do you prefer to be charged by time blocks?

Motion Activated Alarm Lockbox

So you can’t really afford a safe at this point in your life, but you will want something secure to place all your valuables and secret letters without letting your pesky younger sibling to go make a ruckus by going through your stuff? Enter the Motion Activated Alarm Lockbox.

This is the lockbox that protects your valuables with a motion-activated 102dB alarm - as loud as a chain saw, that sounds when someone attempts to open the lid or move the box. The lockbox has a three digit combination and an arm button for easy operation. Three security modes enable you to set the alarm based upon the intended use. Roaming mode allows the box to be picked up and moved within a five-second span before the alarm sounds. Medium security allows for horizontal movement (on a table, shelf, or other flat surface) within a 3′ radius, ideal for drawers or shelves. High security detects the slightest movement and immediately activates the alarm. Two cable holes in the rear allow you to charge electronic devices you have locked up. The holes can also be used to secure the box to an immovable object using a slender security cable (not included). ABS construction. Includes three AAA batteries that provide up to three months of operation.

Sounds like this is one of the better ways to spend $99.95. If you want to find other ways to blow your dough, head on to our sister site Foolish Gadgets. We have at least a quartet of nutty products to look through each day, living up to the adage “a fool and his money are soon parted.”
