Apart from coming in a compact design, the Epson DC-06 offers the perfect fit for smaller classrooms with limited space. Nice to know it is lightweight as well, making it a snap for teachers to transport it between classrooms, either that or they could always enlist the help of their students to do so instead of having the latter loaf around classes while waiting for the next teacher to drop by. According to Heather Litus Johnston, product manager, Epson Projection, Epson America, “The new Epson DC-06 document camera provides teachers with the plug-and-play connectivity options they’ve been looking for. Through our relationships with educators, we’ve developed the DC-06 to meet the requirements they are looking for to make classroom learning more interactive, easy and fun at a price schools can afford.”

Zeebo to begin shipping a new wireless console

Guess there is less room now among the home videogame console market players as there is a new kid on the block to challenge the current dominance of the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. Zeebo will be the latest wireless videogame console to join the fray, shipping in Brazil first from next month onwards. This will not target the high end segment that are currently being dominated by the Xbox 360 and PS3, but will instead concentrate its efforts on emerging global markets by being the first affordable 3D game console that boasts secure 3G wireless game delivery while addressing the special requirements of these regions. All Zeebo systems will ship with a quartet of pre-loaded games, while owners have the option to download the fifth for free.

No console would be able to survive unless they have a bunch of reliable developers backing them up, and it is good to see Zeebo grabbing the attention of leading game publishers and developers such as Capcom, Com2uS, Digital Chocolate, EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu, Id Software, Machineworks Northwest LLC, Namco Networks and THQ, where these companies will be porting over a wide array of console, PC, dedicated handheld and high-end mobile titles to the Zeebo platform.

It will retail for $199 in Brazil - roughly one-fifth the price of mainstream leading consoles. We find that a bit hard to swallow, as that would mean the prices of mainstream consoles have been inflated greatly in Brazil - after all, isn’t the Wii a mainstream console and does it not retail for just $249 locally here? For those who are rather tight on their budget at this point in time, the Zeebo is tipped to retail for under $179 later this year while dropping to $149 or less sometime next year if the volume sold is high.

Cisco Acquires Pure Digital â€" makers of The Flip Pocket Camcorder

It’s said that in slowing economies, companies build value, not go on shopping sprees. So, when Cisco (makers of computer servers and routers of most Internet traffic) decided to pony up half a billion dollars for Pure Digital Corporation, the idea seems to run counter to conventional wisdom. Unless, Cisco is looking to expand their range of services to include the consumer market. And with Pure Digital enjoying a great 24 months with sales of pocket camcorders it can also reveal that Cisco believes that video will be a driving for on the Internet in the future.

The Flip is a pocket sized camcorder that one may want to use for capturing every day moments while out and about. Costing between $130 and $230, it can capture up to 60 minutes of even high definition video on it’s on board flash memory and transfer that video to a PC or even upload to YouTube with its jack-knife like USB plug. On board software can also allow the user to put together a video presentation without investing in any more costly editing software.

Speculation is ripe that Cisco may be looking to take The Flip further into internet connectivity by adding WiFi or even 4G wireless connectivity. This would be a boon as no other camcorder has this feature to date, although many digital still camera models have begun incorporating WiFi access.
