Sharp DKAP7 Docking Station for your iPod
Although Sharp isn’t well known for their iPod docks, you might want to check out their new one. Sharp has recently released a brand new docking station that will not only play your music off of your iPod, but look great doing it. It doesn’t stand out a ton for the design, but the red and black version of the dock is bound to attract at least a little attention from your guests. Although red and black isn’t an astounding color difference from the usual color choices, this one just looks great. It just has that hot rod red look that makes you want to put it out on display. Then for those that don’t really want an audio device that stands out, there’s always the silver and black combination. These docks come with a built-in subwoofer that incorporates HDSS technology and a 2.1 channel portable speaker system. The dock will play and charge your 4th generation iPod as well as allowing other iPods and MP3 players to be hooked up through the jack. You can purchase the Sharp DKAP7 for £69.99 or about $101. | Hands on Review of the Eye-Fi Explore Video
This isn’t the first time that we have reported on Eye-Fi products before, and chances are, it won’t be the last time. I finally tried it out for myself, and was fortunate enough to get my hands on the Eye-Fi Explore Video 4GB version. For those who are not familiar with the Eye-Fi line, this is a memory card that allows the user to upload photos to their computer without any USB cable. You might be wondering how that is possible, and, truth be told, so am I. I can’t deny that it works, though. After a quick setup with my computer, I was able to view photos from my camera on my browser screen like magic. Of course, the user to be very specific about where the photos are to be sent, or it is very easy to wake up to find photos from your Eye-Fi floating all around your computer where you cannot retrieve them. As for the video function, I found that it took quite a while to upload video footage. Not only that, it had to do this operation uninterrupted. That means if you have a video camera with the Eye-Fi Explore Video, then you better make certain you can leave it on for extended periods of time. Because if the battery runs out while the video is wirelessly downloading to your computer, then you have to do it again. I also found the software to be a little invasive. When I started my computer, Eye-Fi kept trying to download videos that I didn’t want, and I had to end the program manually or my computer wouldn’t run properly. Perhaps I shouldn’t have set it up for automatic downloads. In short, you will get your automatic downloads of videos and photos, but with great power, comes great responsibility of upkeep. Fortunately, it doesn’t come at too high of a price of $99 which includes 4GB of memory, unlimited Geotagging, and one year of free Hotspot Access. You can purchase the Explore Video here.
| Digital Peephole Viewer
I’m sure that most of you have received a knock at the door from an uninvited guest, and you looked through the peephole to see who it is. What you usually see is some person with an overly-sized head. Now are you going to let that person in? At least with the Digital Peephole Viewer, you actually get to see what the person looks like. This device is designed to fit in an ordinary peephole without any external camera or fancy wiring. Chances are, it will only take about five minutes for installation. Of course, this is one of those “five minute” projects that take an hour after set up and take down. However, it might be worth it just to get a clearer view of who’s at the door. Just between you and me, I probably wouldn’t let the guy in the photo in. He looks like some salesman or a purveyor of a religion that I don’t want. As for operation, it is as simple as pushing a button and pushing it again for a zoom-in shot. It requires AA batteries for operation, which will be good for about 1,700 views. You can get the Digital Peephole Viewer for about $138, but it is only available in Australia, for now. At least it’s cheaper than the Digital Door Viewer. Source
| Uncle Miltonâs Rainbow In My Room Projector
One thing that small children all seem to be fascinated by are rainbows. Well instead of making them wait for the weather to be just right in order to see one, you could put a rainbow right inside of their bedroom. Don’t worry, it’s not going to cost you a small fortune to do so either. This isn’t one of those children’s gadgets that cost far more than one you’d even buy for yourself. The rainbow projector comes from Uncle Milton and although this would be great for kids, you should be careful about what age you buy this for them at. It turns out that those under the age of 3 years old should probably be kept away from this. There’s a choking hazard for kids under that age, due to a small marble and other small parts. This projector will project a rainbow across the wall and the ceiling. In order to turn it on, it just requires the wave of your hand. To keep it up and running you can either use batteries or an AC adapter. It’ll cost you $21.10 from Amazon. | Kempler and Strauss launches the W PhoneWatch
I’m not certain how the sales of the LG G910 watch phone are doing, but Kempler & Strauss have come up with their own version of digital wrist communication with the W PhoneWatch. The W PhoneWatch comes with a Kempler & Strauss Communicator headset, which you can see in the photo to the right of the watch. This headset syncs with the watch via Bluetooth, so you don’t have to talk to your wrist. I suppose you don’t have to use it, but only if you want to imitate Dick Tracy or Michael Knight. Kempler & Strauss have said that the W PhoneWatch is the world’s smallest full-function quad-band GSM cellphone watch. It has a 1.5 touchscreen interface that does not require a stylus, but allows operation with the user’s fingers. That sounds a little hard to believe, considering how fat most people’s fingers are. However, if the iPhone can make a touchscreen keypad, then I’m willing to take Kempler & Strauss at their word. Other features of the W PhoneWatch include a digital camera that can shoot 640 x 480 stills or 128 x 104 videos. You can see the camera lens on the wrist strap if you look closely. What you can’t see is the slot for the MicroSD. As for the battery life, it is good for about 100 hours of standby, 150 minutes of talk time, and 150 minutes of MP3 playback. So far, there is no word when the W PhoneWatch when it will be available, but the price will be for about $199. Source
| Deos Earphone Covers add a little affordable sparkle
Despite that some women love all that sparkles and glitters, sometimes the budget just flat out doesn’t allow it. Instead of buying a brand new pair of earphones just because they’re pink and sparkle, you could make your current earphones a lot more pretty. With these covers, you could cover up your Apple earbuds and no longer have to look at that bright white color. Of course this won’t get rid of the bright white cords, which might not be enough for some people that want to make a more bold statement. Instead it only clips to the very top of the earbuds. These clips will at the very least work with the Apple earbuds, since that is what they’re shown clipped onto. However, you’d just have to test them out to see if they work on other types of earphones and earbuds. These come in plain black, purple, dark pink, pink, sparkle pink, royal blue, sparkle purple and turquoise. The prices range from $9.99 on up to $29.99 through Target. | Butt Lightning Desk Organizer
Are you the resident office clown? The Butt Lightning Desk Organizer might just be the thing for you, as this faceless model will make sure you always have a pen around (nicely slipped into his mouth, of course) alongside a prismatic-looking, lightning strike which seemingly penetrated his bottom. You can ease his pain temporarily by pulling it out to open a letter. Apart from that, the Butt Lightning Desk Organizer comes with a magnetic head that lets you stick metal paper clips to be within easy reach at all times, making this $14.95 purchase one of the most unique desk organizers you’ll ever find in the market – at least for the moment.
