Skyrail Glow in the Dark Rollercoaster

skyrailThis is something for those who have a soft affinity towards model trainsets, ranging from highly detailed trains to intricately designed track systems that span an entire room. Of course, some of us were not that fortunate to have a dream setup and had to settle for something much smaller that was limited by the table size (and daddy’s budget), but if you’re holding down a stable job now, the Skyrail Glow in the Dark Rollercoaster is certainly worth checking out.

You don’t get to ride in them, but you do get to design and build wild rides. Perhaps you’ll build the track (as shown in the instructions) with three loops; maybe you’ll build the one where the marbles jump from one track to another; maybe you’ll become a master fast enough to design your own crazy rides, and put the marbles through the G-force-iest ride ever. Or maybe you’ll actually let you kids play with the Skyrail Glow in the Dark Rollercoaster. Maybe.

Each $34.99 purchase of this set will come with a building guide that includes diagrams for a set with more pieces, which means you’ll have to fork out double the amount for another set to get the relevant pieces which augments the original 150 pieces. Don’t go losing special glow in the dark marbles as you can’t just buy these in any walk-in store.

Handy Cooler personal air conditioner

    pscooler

We know that summer’s long gone, and the cold, cold chill of winter is about to set in (at least for folks living in the northern hemisphere), but there are still a huge number of people who live in tropical climates who would find the Handy Cooler personal air conditioner to come in, well, handy – as the name suggests.

Handy Cooler is a small and attractive personal cooling device that is packed with plenty of fantastic features you would never expect from a small personal fan. This is a personal fan that literally cools the air. This amazing gadget delivers continuous evaporated cool air flow to keep you cool anytime under the sun or at home. Just think about the limitless uses… sunbathing, hot offices, picnics, camping, golfing, watching the game from the sidelines in blistering heat, and don’t forget hot flashes!

You can choose to power it using batteries whenever you’re outdoors (do have rechargeables in mind to help reduce the amount of waste generated with used batteries), and for those who are in the office, there is always the option to connect it via USB especially when you’re placed in a cubicle where the air conditioning just won’t reach. Worth forking out $39.99 for?

Okoro unveils new 2010 Quantum mini Digital Entertainment Systems

    okoro-oms

Okoro Media Systems is pretty famous for their range of digital entertainment systems in the A/V market, and the company recently introduced its 2010 Quantum mini Digital Entertainment Systems that will come in the form of the OMS-Q100 and the OMS-Q200. Both models will come in extremely small footprints, making sure you can place them discreetly in your home without sticking out like a sore thumb. The 2010 Quantum minis were specially designed to hold your entire collection of digital music, photos and movies together, even letting you record High Definition TV programming for viewing later on. This is a classic case of not being fooled by its size – the mini machines you see here (no taller than a regular can of COke!) are powerful enough to handle 1080p Blu-ray movie playback while upscaling your existing collection of DVDs without breaking a sweat. In addition to the aforementioned HDTV recording capability, both models can handle HD program recording of up to two channels simultaneously – regardless of whether you’re relying on an antenna, cable or satellite TV.

The Quantum minis are not only small, they’re powerful and were manufactured to be so discreet that they run cool and quiet. Individual units will come with a quiet active cooling technology which will enable the unit register a barely audible sound, which comes in handy in a home theater environment. The OMS-QX100 will be powered by a low powered Intel mobile processor, whereas the QX200 is based on the Nvidia ION processor that has been proven to offer an above average performance without sipping too much juice, especially when it comes to video decoding technology. Shared features include HDMI 1.3 outputs, Blu-ray/DVD drives and a low power consumption of under 50 Watts. If you’re not looking forward to a regular black color, there is always the option to pick up special versions that come in an unlimited number of color combinations.

Nokia introduces 6350 cellphone

    att-nokia-6350

Are you in the market for a new cellphone with a slew of basic features? Well, you won’t go too wrong with Nokia’s offerings over the years as they tend to play their cards right with the entry-level segment, and their latest addition would be the Nokia 6350 from AT&T. This handset will come in a couple of colors to get you all excited, and will be available in a clamshell form factor that was specially designed to offer optimum comfort in your hand. You can choose from two seasonal shades – red and graphite, where you will find the Nokia 6350 to be no slouch in terms of performance, capable of keeping you connected to your favorite social networking sites and basically keeping tabs of your online life thanks to 3G and HSDPA connectivity over AT&T’s wide ranging 3G network.

The Nokia 6350 will feature a smooth back design that offers a soft feel throughout for a touch of simple sophistication. You will find dedicated music playback keys on the outside, making it a snap to activate whenever you want to jive to your favorite tunes. In addition, other customary features available on handsets these days include a 2-megapixel camera, a brwoser, email support and up to 4 hours of talktime on a full battery charge.

If you have been stoked, the Nokia 6350 is available at AT&T retail stores as well as online at www.wireless.att.com from today onwards. It will particularly target those who want a decent phone and yet are living on a tight budget, since AT&T has slapped a highly affordable $29.99 price tag on the Nokia 6350, although you will need to do your part and send in a mail-in rebate as well as agree to a 2-year AT&T contract. Guess those in college who need just a phone to communicate with their family and friends without looking like a tool might just find the Nokia 6350 to be a suitable addition.

Gyroscopic Training Wheel teaches kids to ride their bike

    gyrowheel

When a kid has training wheels for longer than their friends, they always get teased a bit.  Well with this new Gyrowheel, it wouldn’t be quite so noticeable that the child is getting a little help.  Instead of them needing an adult to attempt to gradually let them go, they could learn to ride more confidently on their own with the use of a gyroscope.

The gyroscope on the inside will make it easier for new riders to stay upright.  Then the more confident the child gets, the more you can adjust the level of stabilization.  Eventually they’ll be able to ride all on their own without  ever using training wheels or someone holding onto them.  These go on the front wheel of a standard kids bike that uses a 12 inch tire.  That version will be coming out this coming December.  At some point there will also be a 16 inch version for adults as well, but as of now there’s only a kids one on the way.

Garage Bell reminds you of the good old days

    milton-gas-station-garage-bell

For those of you that hate getting preoccupied with things at home, only to spin around and see your spouse has managed to get inside and stand right behind you without you noticing.  You might need something to announce their presence so that you don’t have a heart attack every single day.  Plus you’ll get to reminisce about the good old days when gas stations weren’t all self serve.

This garage bell comes with a 25 foot long air hose that allows for the bell to ring cheerfully.  All it takes is someone driving over the air hose and it’ll cause the bell to ring, announcing their presence to anyone near the garage.  The die-cast hose anchor comes in bright red, which is always a classic choice.  It could work at either your house or your place of business to let you know when someone drives up.  You can pick up the Garage Bell for $88 from AutoSport.

The Trailer Hitch Alignment Tool

    6a00d8341c5dea53ef0120a5b9b930970b-800wi

Hooking up certain hitches can be difficult with help.  Some allow for you to be a little off, but others it requires being extremely precise.  Then to actually pull off hooking up a trailer, boat or camper on your own is a tedious and time consuming task.  I suppose it is entirely possible, but it’s probably going to take you a while to get it right.  Usually you’re far better off waiting until help arrives.  Well this Trailer Hitch Alignment Tool will make it possible for you to hook everything up without any help.

There’s a rod that attaches to each side, one on the hitch of your vehicle and the other for the hitch on your trailer.  In order to make it easier to see both rods, these have brightly colored markers on the ends.  Then the rods themselves are adjustable, you can make them stand up to 43 inches tall.  In order to resist rust, these come in a chrome plated finish.  Then all you have to do is line up the colored markers on the end and you’re done.  I imagine it might take some practice though to get used to lining up two colored dots.  You can pick up the kit for $18.75 from Amazon.

Nissan’s EPORO robot cars won’t have accidents

eporo_nissan-620x287-thumb-550x588-25158My source called these EPORO robot cars, but I don’t know if I feel comfortable calling these things cars. Unless these are cars from some alternate universe where penguins rule the world.

Yes, they may not look like what Nissan usually rolls off the assembly line, but the EPORO robot cars are an advancement for the day when cars drive themselves like Knight Rider.

You see, these EPORO robot cars are able to move in groups, and have software built in that keeps them from crashing into each other. Just think of them as bumper cars without the humans and without the bumps.

I suppose a better comparison would be to schools of fish, who are able to travel without bumping into each other and fluidly avoid other obstacles.

It sort of reminds me of the software used in Pixar’s classic Finding Nemo. Remember how the schools of fish traveled in schools, just like real fish? It would appear that Nissan took that tech a step higher, and plans to put six of the EPORO robots on display at CEATAC Japan next week.

I like where EPORO technology is going. I suppose automated cars could easily be programmed to follow traffic signals, but Nissan has finally figured out how to keep automated vehicles from hitting each other.

Are we that far away from Minority Report style automatic vehicles? I hope not. I would like to take nap in my car while on the way home.
