The Twilight Watch
Don’t worry, the Twilight Watch isn’t some watch for all the fans of the movie Twilight. No, this watch is about the actual twilight, you know, like the time of the day or rather night in this case. It’s an interesting watch that is meant to remind you of the miracle that is the sunrise. Plus it’s made to be a little extra durable, for those that have the tendency to drop their watch in water or just forget to take it off before jumping into a pool. The watch can stay water resistant up to 100 feet under the water. It’s not entirely waterproof, so you will have to be a little extra careful. At least it does have some protection though. The face of the watch will slowly fade to black throughout the day and keep brightening back up again, it changes about every 20 seconds. It has two polarized disks that rotate to show this effect. You can purchase it for $119.99 from Think Geek. | Ript Fusion Undershirt
The other day, I happen to notice that the sides of my body are getting flabby. You might not be able to tell when I am wearing a shirt, but these side fat folds are clearly visible if Iâm in my bathing suit. Fortunately, technology is here to help me. The Ript Fusion undershirt has material made of polyester and spandex blend that can somehow compress my flab into some nicely sculpted abs. The rest of the shirt is made of cotton, and I am not certain how well this works. I believe that most health experts will say that no technology of any kind is a substitute for diet and exercise. Yeah, I have my doubts whether this thing will work. Maybe the truth is that the Ript isnât supposed to make you into the physique of Charles Atlas, but just make you look that way. It does look like the undershirt that Bruce Willis wore in the first Die Hard movie. Actually, I think he wore a tank top, and I canât remember if he had a good physique in that movie. Well, if you are willing to try something a little different, then you should be able to purchase it at Ript Fusion from their website in two styles: the Menâs Crew Neck and Menâs V-Neck. Source
| MoGo Talk Bluetooth headset
Road warriors, listen up! Here’s the MoGo Talk Bluetooth headset that will definitely change the way you look at such peripherals ever again. It comes in a somewhat similar form factor as other MoGo products (especially mice), as it can fold down flat into a rectangle that fits nicely into your ExpressCard slot on a notebook, getting juiced whenever it is not in use to make sure that you won’t ever run into situations where an important phone call is cut off halfway no thanks to an empty battery on your headset. The MoGo Talk is able to remain on standby for over a week on a full charge, while it comes with a flexible thin rubber ear tip that will conform to the shape of your ear, helping block out noise as well. If you’re interested in picking this up, it will be available later this August for $99 a pop. Source: Gizmag
| Red Alienware M17x coming
Love the Alienware M17x? Well, if you’ve always wanted that high end computer but don’t really like the color it comes in, there is hope for you just yet. This time round, the M17x will be available in Nebula Red, where it falls under the banner of a Special Edition, boasting a fiery new color that envelops its anodized aluminum exterior. This is a clear departure from the traditional black color, and red often signifies blood - that of your opponents, we hope, in view of the Alienware M17x’s superior hardware characteristics that would put many other desktop gaming PCs to shame. All it takes is another $99 on top of the M17x purchase price and you’ll be able to turn black to red. Press Release
| Choken Bako Robobitc Dog Bank
Not everyone is allowed to have a dog in their home, which is disappointing at times. For those that miss having an over excited pooch, this bank might help you out. I know, it’s just a bank, but it’s the cutest bank I’ve ever seen. It has an adorable robotic dog on top that will never fail to make you chuckle at least a little. Especially the way he gobbles up the coins you drop in his bowl. If you’d like to see him in action, you can check out the video on the seller’s website. When you toss some coins into his bowl, he immediately goes to work. Instead of swallowing them up himself though, he knocks them down a hole that is at the very back of his dog bowl. This is a Japan product, but thankfully the Japan Trend Shop will ship this worldwide and for one very flat rate. You can purchase him for $50 and then the shipping will cost you an extra $18. You’ll have to preorder him though, because he’s not available until the 30th of November. | Sondata Shake-A-Pix: A Shakable Digital Picture Frame
Finally, someone has come out with a digital picture frame that gives the user a little something different than the average settings. The Sondata Shake-A-Pix uses technology that is reminiscent of the Sansa Shaker. Instead of shaking the device to go to the next MP3, you shake the frame to see your latest memory. (Be sure to read that last sentence aloud, because it has a very cool rhyme.) According to the Product Page, the 2.4 inch TFT display is the worldâs first digital photo frame to contain motion sensors that allow for its unique feature. Generally, Iâm always suspicious when someone says âworldâs firstâ, but the fact is the Shake-A-Pix has 64 MB worth of memory, which is enough for about 90 images in 320 x 240 pixel resolution. Since it is the size of a credit card and slim (0.6 cm), it can be carried with you for a quick photo show. It even includes a neck strap for an ever-changing necklace. It also includes a USB cable for downloading photos, and presumably for recharging the battery. You should be able to purchase the Sondata Shake-A-Pix at the aptly named Find Me a Gift site for about £22.50 ($36.64).
| Dymo LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo: Hands on Review
If you are one of those meticulously organized types who require a printed label for everything that you own, then you are probably very familiar with Dymo. I had a chance to try out the Dymo LabelWriter 450, and I am surely tempted to label everything in my home, my city, and the world! As you can see by the photo, the LabelWriter 450 comes with two spools for printing. This second roll can be used as a backup in case your primary printing roll runs out, or for printing large batches faster by loading two rolls of up to the same label. Iâve heard that you can print up to 71 labels a minute. The best part about it is that no expensive ink or toner is required. According to the QuickStart Guide, the LabelWriter âuses heat from a thermal print head to print on specially treated labels. Labels are the only supplies you will ever need to buyâ. Set up for the LabelWriter was very simple. All I had to do is insert the software, which took quite a while to download programs that it needed to use the LabelWriter 450. It was very specific about not plugging in the printer into the USB drive until all the software was installed. Once I plugged it in, my computer recognized it right away, and I printed my first address label in seconds. The Dymo LabelWriter 450 comes with a roll of Stamp labels and a roll of address labels. It is available for purchase off the DYMO site for about $210.
| The R/C Metal Detecting Dune Buggy
When you picture someone out and about with a metal detector, I imagine you’re probably picturing someone older and retired. Well for those that are still pretty young, but would like to search for treasures of their own, there’s this car. This is the way you search for metal. None of carrying around a heavy metal detector, no, with this you can have fun and let it scout out ahead of you. When this little car detects metal it will start flashing a red light and begin beeping. The car itself can move forward, backward, left and right. It has a range of 25′ so you could let it scout out a fairly large area without having to move around. It also has adjustable sensitivity for different types of terrain. Included with the car are two plastic digging tools along with 3 faux gold doubloons that are made out of metal. You can bury those doubloons to practice searching for metal. The car runs on 4 AA batteries and a 9V battery. It will run for up to 4 hours before it dies. You can purchase it for $49.95 from Hammacher and Schlemmer. | Vote in this Weekâs Coolest Gadget Contest
We have some GREAT entries this week, so will be interesting to see what you think is coolest (as usual vote and comment for a chance to win $50 Amazon voucher). The Washable Keyboard is perfect if you like to keep your work station clean. Its amazing how many germs and pieces of food get onto your keyboard in a short space of time and with the Washable Keyboard it makes cleaning it so simple. With a normal keyboard its pretty much impossible to clean them properly as most are not waterproof. With this being 100% waterproof it means your keyboard won’t stop working if you happen to spill your drink on it either. The full post can be found on Tech Styling. The Easy Desk Cool 2 provide you with all convenience and versatile a laptop should have, they arenât far from perfect, especially in the ergonomic department. Stiff necks, sore shoulders and back pain symptoms are often the negative side effects associated with prolonged laptop usage. The full post can be found on The Cool Gadgets. This is no âWind Upâ, ha ha (had to get that joke in before anyone else). What youâre looking at is a set of walkie talkies that are powered through the age old art of “winding”. Like clocks of old, to make these little eco-gadgets work you simply flick out the wind handle, take a firm grip and wind like a good-un. The wind to power ratio works out surprisingly satisfactualy as well. The full post can be found on Gadgets-For-Men. The JetLev-Fly Water Jet Pack is the ultimate watersport gadget for all you water junkies out there. Now, if you’re thinking it’s another jet ski gadget then think again! This water propelled monster, made up of a 4 stroke engine and 10 metre flexible hose can power the rider to a whopping 50 feet (15m), has a top speed of 30mph, and travels almost 200 miles before it needs to be refuelled. Pretty impressive I would say! The full post can be found on Gaj-It. Designed much like a key holder, the router saves power by switching when there is no one in the building. The full post can be found on Trends Updates. The BagelPod slices bagels, buns and rolls, and provides safe, quick and easy slicing. The two specially designed serrated blades, made of heat treated 420A stainless steel metal, are always locked behind the units cutting mechanism while the Bagelpod slicer is open and in use. The two blades cannot be accidentally touched while this unit is in use, so it is 100% safe, and it’s top rack dishwasher safe. The full post can be found on Kitchen Contraptions. This Port-a-Pint folds up and then has a lid to go over it. So just stick it in your pocket and at any given moment youâre ready for beer. The full post can be found on Foolish Gadgets. ClimbStation is like a vertical treadmill that revolves at a top speed of 17 meters per minute. In fact, the Climbstation can automatically adjust the scrolling speed to match the userâs climbing speed, or lack thereof. The full post can be found on CG. Thanks again to all the sites for their submissions now over to you guys for voting (don’t forget to leave a comment with your reason for a chance to win a $50 Amazon voucher). | Eternaledâs HydraLux uses liquid cooling to function
There’s now a new light bulb out there that gives you the energy efficiency you love, along with a slightly more traditional light bulb look. I’ve heard of several people that aren’t very fond of the look of spiral bulbs, yet they still use them since it does cut back on their power bill. Well this small LED bulb keeps things energy efficient in a very different way that allows for it to be shaped this way. It actually uses liquid-cooling technology. It’s said to be the world’s first to use that type of technology. This 4W bulb will put out as much light as a 25W bulb. Which makes it more ideal for something like a desk lamp or a sconce. It contains no hazardous substances, so if it does break, you won’t have to worry about harsh chemicals. The bulb comes with a 2 year warranty and a 30 day money back guarantee. Which is good since one of these bulbs is going to cost you $35. Then again it is said that it will end up saving you $157 over the lifetime of the bulb. It also saves $13.96 on average per year and it will last for 35,000 hours total. | Last Weekâs Coolest Gadget and $50 Winner areâ¦
The winner of last week’s coolest gadget competition is the Worldâs Fastest Remote Control Car. Designed by 46 year old Nic Case, this RC vehicle is currently the worldâs fastest remote control car, capable of achieving speeds of up to 161 miles per hour. The RC car has an 11 horsepower engine and uses a 12 cell battery pack as a fuel supply. Nic is already drawing up plans to improve the top speed to break the 200 mile per hour speed barrier. Congrats again to Coated. In second place we have the WiFi Hotspot Finder. Want to find a WiFi signal quickly and simply? Grab a WiFi Hotspot Finder Keyring. With a range of 60 meters and the ability to detect 802.11b, 802.11b and 802.11g at a press of a button, thereâd be no need to either sign spot or pull out your laptop and wander the streets aimlessly (lets face it, thatâll get you mugged). Four green LEDs indicate the strength of the signal, and thereâs also a red LED to indicate no signal (I bet no lights would make you think the batteries had run out). The whole search apparently takes just two seconds of your time, which is much faster than booting up your laptop and praying. Finally in third place comes the Randy the Rude Gnome. Garden gnomes are supposed to be nice, gentle and sweet, but hereâs Randy the Rude Gnome who turns things upside down. He is motion-activated, while greeting you with the finger at first glance, will also speak a rude phrase. Thank you to everybody who voted, submitted, commented or told a friend. The randomly drawn winner of the $50 Amazon vouchers is: Helard (helard.mir…@…), congratulations. Thanks again everybody and good luck with the next CGOTW contest on Friday.
