The iCooly Clip Stand iPhone Case

    iclooly-clip-stand_1

There are several things out there that can make a stand for your iPhone and there are also cases that can clip to your pants, but not many can do both.  This iCooly Case does both as well as allows room so that you can comfortably slip your hand between the iPhone and the clip.  Which would give you a better grip on things, making this ideal for anyone who is clumsy and terrified of dropping their iPhone.

It appears as if it only allows for the iPhone to stand up on end as opposed to on its side.  Which would make it so you couldn’t just set it down and watch a video in a wider form.  The case comes in three different color variations, one is all white, another all black and lastly one has a black case and a bright red clip.  If you were ever worried that your iPhone will stand out too much and therefore get stolen, I’d advise not getting the last one.  Hopefully with as chunky as the clip is, it will stay in place well enough within pockets.  This is especially great for women, since  jeans pockets for women’s jeans are typically shallow.  You can pick up the iCooly Clip Stand iPhone Case for 25 Euros.

RealD LP Accessory brings 3D to Projectors

reald_lpIf there was one thing that I learned at CES, it was that 3D was going to be big this year. I reported on many products designed for a 3D society, like the BCS Championship Game and some ViewSonic products. I think the barrage of 3D movies that we are seeing is evidence of a new 3D age.

A company known as RealD, a huge name in tech in the 3D world, has created the RealD LP, a Linear Polarizing Z Screen that can “bring the power of 3D to the small screen”. The company has also stated that the RealD LP is “the world’s first mobile, single-projector, passive 3D solution”.

The RealD LP is a peripheral that sits in front of a projector lens, and can polarize the imagery from 3D enabled projectors. Yes, you will need to wear the glasses, but you can wear the polarized ones instead of the circular system that is normally used.

The RealDLP is made for projectors, preferably those in business meeting rooms, R&D centers, and museum exhibits. I suppose that the next logical step is to make this accessible for the typical consumer.

So, what are we looking at here? An age where 3D is available in every home that has a projector? Well, it would certainly make all these 3D movies that are coming to the theater worth watching when they come to video.

Dareway is a Segway for kids

    dareway-500x488

Kids already have the option to own little miniature cars to ride in with batteries that run for about 20 minutes before they die.  They also have electronic scooters and other various items to ride on.  Well now kids can own their own kid size version of a Segway, only for them it’s called a Dareway.  There is a version for both boys and girls, and it will move them around just like your average Segway.  Although I imagine this one is not quite as well built.

The girl version is bright pink with purple accents and then there is a second version that is silver and black.  It operates on a 12v recharageable battery and of course they include the battery charger.  The Dareway can travel forwards, backwards, left and right.  All of this is done with the foot accelerator and the thumb operated directional buttons.  It also can of course spin a full 360 degrees.  It’s created for kids 5 years and up, although I’m sure there is some kind of a weight limit on them.  You can purchase one for £149.99 or about $226.

Rytir MID

ic-1In all honesty, I’m not certain what the market is for MID (Mobile Internet Devices). After all, if most people have the Internet on their smartphone, I’m not certain if people need a mobile device that is exclusively for viewing the Internet.

This particular concept from designer Jan Rytir could tip the scales of the MID market quite considerably. This MID, which doesn’t have any working title, is very small, measuring in at 180 x 80 x 20mm.

The screen is an ultra-wide LCD screen that is an OLED. It is a nice slider that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard and a tiny trackball. It also features an Intel Atom processor, two USB slots, a microphone, an audio input, stereo speakers, as well as a docking connector and SD card reader.

I’m not certain if this product will ever hit the market. As for me, I like watching my Internet on my computer, and the tiny screen of a MID like this just forces me to squint real hard, honestly.

Are we at an age where we are used to the tiny Internet browser? Please chime in with a comment if you think that this time is nigh, or if we are already in it. If so, the Rytir MID has a definite future.

Digilegs Turn You into Mr. Tumnus

digigrade-leg-ext_270x555When I first watched the Disney version of The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe, I was amazed at the shot of Mr. Tumnus the faun stamping the snow off his goat-like legs. I am assuming that CG special effects were used for that shot, but there is now a new way to play a satyr.

The Digigrade Leg Extensions are made of steel, cable, and foam. They allow a user “the uncanny and graceful appearance of an animal”. Side effects include adding 14 inches to the user’s height, and a temporary lack of balance. How long? According to Seattle artist Kim Graham, she says that these legs take about 10 or 15 minutes to get used to.

There are no plans to mass-market these new legs, but these specially made goat legs will cost in the neighborhood of $775, or $1,000 with the artificial and oversized hooves. I’m not certain that they come with fur, but that’s what the YouTube video shows. You can see for yourself after the jump.

I suppose the target audience for these Digilegs are those who need to have authentic goat legs in a movie or play. For example, if Guillermo del Toro wants to make a sequel to Pan’s Labyrinth. That doesn’t sound too likely, so maybe Disney will make some more Narnia films and order up several pairs of Digilegs.

The extremely tiny Lingo Wireless Mouse

      lingo_mouse

There’s no question that everyone appreciates a bit of portability.  It makes it so that you have far less to carry around and it’s less of a heavy load.  Of course sometimes it gets to the point that it’s just a little too portable.  Yes, it’s more convenient, but if it makes it more difficult to use, then it kind of defeats the purpose.  This mouse is one of those items that might just be a hair too small for some people.  However, if you have tiny hands, then perhaps this mouse is a dream come true.

This one isn’t out just yet, but will be hitting Japan next month.  This mouse only measures 27.5 x 60 x 19mm, so it’s definitely not very big.  Then with only a weight of 23g it makes the mouse super lightweight as well.  The mouse is actually said to be the smallest out there right now, which I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.  It comes in white and black and has a battery life of 15 hours.  You can purchase it for $50.

Lavod MP3 Bike Speaker and Flashlight

lavod-speakerWe’ve seen the Podio MP3 speaker yesterday, and today let’s take a look at the Lavod MP3 Bike Speaker and Flashlight that does not only playback your favorite tunes while you pedal furiously to shed those post-holiday pounds, but you will also be able to take advantage of the built-in flashlight functionality should you be unfortunate enough to encounter a loose chain when dusk falls, and need all the light possible along a lonely, deserted road to place the chain back in its proper position.

This handlebar-mounted gizmo blasts out your favourite tunes so you can rock and roll without tangling with potentially dangerous headphones. What’s more it enables riders to hear tweetering birds alongside the melodious strains of Cannibal Corpse. And if that doesn’t flutter your mudflaps you can listen to its FM radio. You can even preset the stations using the accompanying software. The Lavod Speaker is USB-friendly. Simply plug it in and drag your songs onto its 2GB onboard memory. Easy, and you won’t need to faff about with batteries because this beautifully engineered gadget is charged via your computer, its rechargeable battery delivering a whopping 8-10 hours of continuous playback.

One thing though - the £99.95 price point might be a wee bit steep for most people, and there are always cheaper alternatives around like carrying a separate torchlight whenever you go cycling.

    Number Guessing Shock Game

If you’re a sucker for punishment or a sadist at heart, then the Number Guessing Shock Game is just the thing for you. Also known as the 1-99TM game, you can play with as many (or as few) people as you like, where each person will punch in any number between 1 and 99 - all you have to do is make sure you won’t pick whatever number the computer has chosen. Follow the instructions via the integrated computer voice guide, and you can choose your modes of punishments from light shocks to strong shocks and siren only (that means no shocks, you wuss). Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, we’d highly recommend using this as a drinking game to make it all the more fun. After all, playing it without booze is just plain boring, what do you think?

    Eye-Fi supports automatic video uploading

eye-fiWe’ve covered Eye-Fi products in the past before, and we must say that we’re pretty impressed to see such wireless technology enabled in an SD memory card to date in order to enhance the functionality of other devices such as PDAs, smartphones and digital cameras. Well, nice to see Eye-Fi not resting on their laurels but instead striving to offer something better to consumers, where their latest efforts involve a new range of wireless memory cards which enable automatic uploading of videos directly from a digital camera to various online websites such as Picasa Web Albums, Photobucket or SmugMug, alongside mainstays such as YouTube or Flickr - all without the need to even power on a computer. Lesser civilizations would have classified this as voodoo or black magic, but we know otherwise.

The new 4GB Eye-Fi Share Video and Eye-Fi Explore Video cards were specially designed to upload photos and videos straight to the computer as well as to over 25 online photo and video sharing sites. The latter will also have the distinction of automatically geotagging photos and videos alongside location information about where the image or video was shot, giving users the convenience of accessing Wi-Fi hotspots from over 10,000 Wayport and open hotspot locations in the U.S. to upload away from home. This makes updating live blogs as well as live coverage of press conferences a snap, especially when you have a device that records video in a YouTube-friendly format so that you don’t need to bother with optimizing the video on a computer before uploading.

Those who are interested in the 4GB Eye-Fi Share Video and 4GB Eye-Fi Explore Video will be able to pick them up for $79 and $99, respectively, from Apple Retail Stores and Best Buy locations nationwide. We’re sure bloggers would make up for a sizeable portion of the customer base considering how we love being the latest and most up-to-date when it comes to delivering news to our readership. Al, do you think this will come in handy for the CG team at CES next year?

    BBQ Branding Iron

bbq-branding-ironYou know how ranchers brand their own walking pieces of meat so that they can claim ownership over them just in case a cow or two make their way across the fields over to another ranch? Well, the BBQ Branding Iron might work on bovines that are still alive, we don’t doubt that, but why waste the time and effort when you can personally brand that piece of steak you’ve been BBQ-ing for the past 10 minutes so that nobody else can stake a claim on that juicy bit? Yes, each £14.95 purchase will reward you with 52 letters and 8 blank spaces, allowing you to brand customized messages on your food. Arranging the letters are a snap, all you need to do is lock them in place once you’re done and shove the iron in the barbie.

    Nokia E71x available via AT&T

e71xThe Nokia E71 is one great smartphone to own if you haven’t yet done so already, but just in case you’re thinking of upgrading to that model - hold your horses. Nokia has just made available the E71x, touted to be the slimmest smartphone on the market, via AT&T retail stores and online from this week onwards. This full QWERTY smartphone will retail for a mere $99.99, although that comes with a customary 2-year contract alongside a mail-in rebate. More on the Nokia E71x right after the jump as well as its capabilities and functions to cater for the road warrior in you.

According to David Petts, Vice President and General Manager, AT&T Account, Nokia, “The trend for messaging, whether email, IM, texting or social networking, is stronger than ever - we are seeing a real shift in the way people prefer to communicate. The E71x is one of the most stylish and sophisticated QWERTY smartphones on the market, and it’s the ideal companion for people who enjoy easy messaging and connecting with their friends. We are thrilled to now bring this sleek smartphone to people across the United States with AT&T.”

The Nokia E71x will make sure you remain connected no matter where you are courtesy of its high-speed 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi support for times when you want to save on battery life, an integrated music player that won’t be on par with an iPod but it does its job well enough, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera that allows you to take memorable moments whenever you forget to bring out your camera, alongside a whole host of connectivity to various online portals meant for messaging and social networking. The built-in GPS navigation system also allows you to use AT&T Navigator to get around an unfamiliar territory with ease. The only problem could be the Symbian S60 operating system it runs on â€" those on the iPhone who wants to switch might find it to be less intuitive than the iPhone OS.

iPhone Unlocking Solutions enables iPhone 3G 2.2.1 to run on any network

unkock-iphoneDo you happen to be shopping for a cell phone at this point in time, and are looking forward to picking up an Apple iPhone 3G considering everyone else already has one (well, it looks like that basically anyways)? Folks who are thinking of doing so and yet not wanting to fall under AT&T’s contract have a choice - to pick an iPhone 3G up as a refurbished unit from eBay or some other online shopping site and use an unlock software solution. iPhone Unlocking Solutions has just the thing for you if you fall under that category thanks to their new one-click unlock software, where the software price has been temporarily lowered to a mere $29.95.

Unlock-the-iPhone is already the number one iPhone unlock provider courtesy of its one-click solutions for unlocking the iPhone. This software takes the mickey out of unlocking one’s iPhone, so you don’t need to be armed with a whole bunch of technical knowledge apart from clicking through the software via obvious buttons and cues to help you along. According to iPhone Unlocking Solutions CEO Michael Cera, “When the iPhone was first released, that was the only way to unlock it. People with limited knowledge of electronics who tried opening their phones and soldering various components usually ended up with ruined iPhones and voided warranties.”

As other solutions ambled along, those were touted to be unreliable and could even render the iPhone a brick, but the software available at Unlock-the-iPhone.com takes the simple and affordable route, reliably unlocking the iPhone 3G 2.2.1 that the company is confident of offering a 100% money-back satisfaction guarantee. Perfect for folks in other parts of the world who wants an iPhone 3G and yet do not want to remain stuck to a specific cell phone carrier. All iPhone firmware from 1.*, 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1 and the iPhone 3G can be unlocked by this magical piece of software.

The Ylight for convenient tire changing

      ylight

Anyone who has ever managed to get a flat tire on a dark road knows the joys of fumbling in the dark.  Even if you happen to have a flashlight handy, it’s still difficult to position.  Plus it’s hard to remember to change out batteries to something that stays out in your car.  Instead you could go with this 3 point light that not only gives multi-directional lighting, but also makes it so there are no worries about dealing with silly batteries.

Unfortunately this is a concept design, but it’s such a simple idea that hopefully it will get picked up by someone.  To charge it up all you have to do is put your finger through the center hole and push the button.  Then after you’ve given it a few spins it will start to have a charge.  Each of the lights can be set at different levels of brightness to make sure that you have the optimal amount of light.  The design is by Andre Moneiro.

The LED Alarm Clock with Electronic Bird

      6a00d83451cbb069e20115706f978d970b-800wi

This isn’t the first alarm clock I’ve seen with a bird sitting on top.  It is however, the first one that could possibly be defined as chic and stylish.  The pretty bright white makes it so that although the bird sitting on top is a little whimsical, it would still fit within a home that conforms to most adult standards.  Not only that but you’d have the joy of waking up every morning to the sound of a chirping bird instead of that obnoxious beep.

Of course, I think I’d just stuff a pillow over my head thinking it was coming from outside, on mornings that I was more tired than usual.  If you’re not that hard to wake up though, it shouldn’t be difficult to comprehend that it’s an electronic bird that is chirping on your nightstand.  There aren’t a lot of details on the clock, but it does of course utilize LED lights for the clock part.  Then they also mention that the bird does move, but no word on how it does that.  You can pick up the bird for £20.00 or about $30 from Habitat.

Sap Cap is your tool in self defense

      sapcap-thumb-500x500-17461

Finding a way to make sure that you have a little something extra for self defense that is convenient for you can sometimes be a bit of a task.  Carrying around a small keychain of pepper spray isn’t for everyone, partially because they’re so bulky to have hanging from your keys.  Plus it’s not really a guy thing to do, so instead you could go for the more subtle approach.  If you wear hats all the time anyway, no one will notice the difference about you wearing this around.  All the while you’re wearing this around it has a hidden way of getting someone to back off pretty quick.

Although it just looks like your average plain hat, and frankly an extremely boring hat at that.  This hat contains a unique impact material, which is actually 110% the density of lead and will never rust.  When you need something to get someone to back off, just grab the bill of the hat and swing.  It will either shut them up or really make them mad, so you might want to make a quick escape.  Hopefully even with such a heavy density, it’s still comfortable.  The hat can be purchased for $30.

PXP-900: Looks like a PSP, plays like the old school

pxp-900-thumb-550x413-17228The PXP-900 is clearly designed to look like something else. See if you can figure it out. If you’re stuck, just look to the triangle, circle, square, and X keys on the right.

Yeah, this PXP-900 is no Sony Playstation PSP, but you would probably never know it until you tried to play it. For instead of the latest from PlayStation Portable, a user would get some old school game like Pole Position.

Yes, it appears this guy can only do Roms such as those from NES, Famicom, Super Famicom, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and SEGA MegaDrive. Granted, I’m not certain of the morality of Roms, because I’ve heard that downloading them can be hazardous to your legal health.

So who is the PXP-900 for? Perhaps for people like me, who remember the days of early eighties/nineties video games with a love. Someone who knows that the video games they put out now are nothing compared with the addictive ones put out back then.

If you are old enough to remember the video games of that bygone era, then you might have a kid who is begging you for a PSP. Something tells me that you can probably pick up the PXP-900 for a cheaper price. Your kid will probably be disappointed, but he or she might come to like older games. It’s a bonding experience waiting to happen!

    Slimo: Transport of the Future?

slimo-by-sung-uk-kim-thumb-550x309-174551My source for this article titled his article “If Apple ruled the world, we’d all ride in these ‘Slimos’”. All I could think of when I saw that title was: “you mean Apple doesn’t rule the world?”

How else can you explain one billion app downloads for iPhones? Or the millions who owe millions to iTunes? Apple may never win that “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” war, but most would give about one hundred percent of anything for just ten percent of Apple.

But back to the subject at hand: the Slimos. What are these things? The first time I saw it, I thought it was the mode of transportation for the next attraction at Disneyland.

Well, they are a mode of transportation, but so much more. Think of them as a mobile cubicle, complete with built-in computer. Once these guys get connected together like a train, you have a very interesting way to carpool! However, you can’t expect these things to go that fast, right?

Well, this Slimo is apparently a concept from designer Sung uk Kim, but I’m seeing more of an inspiration from VW, especially with that logo on the front. Perhaps if the future brings the entire world as one gigantic amusement park, this would be the mass transit system.
