Coolest Gadgets

The Transformer camera is disguised as film

I can’t decide if this camera is mind boggling or just overly simplistic.  It’s mind boggling because it’s an oversized roll of 35mm film that’s actually a camera, that you use 35mm film within.  It’s simplistic, because you’d always know what type of film to jam inside of the camera.  It’d be really baffling if it used something besides 35mm film.  It’s called the Transformer camera, but so far there have been no reports of it turning into a robot that attempts to save or take over the world.

However, maybe if you purchase it and kept a close enough eye on it, something interesting might happen.  That is, besides take pictures.  Unfortunately, the camera might be a little hard to get a hold of for those of you that still enjoy cameras that use film and are looking to purchase it.  It’s being sold in Korea and Korea only, as of now at least.  There it sells for 27,000 KRW, which translates into about $20.

Ergo FashionNote laptops for Swarvoski lovers

This is a great example of why some of the gadgets targeted at females tend to horrify me.  Granted, everyone is different, so there will most definitely be consumers eager to snatch these up.  However, to the average person, these are more than a little over the top.  On the up side of things though, despite that these take shiny to a completely different level, they would be very portable.  The screen itself is only 8.9 inches, just to give you an idea of the size of the laptop.

These aren’t out just yet, you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks still before you’ll be able to order them.  Of course, they won’t be at your local Best Buy even when they are out.  There are a total of six different handmade designs.  The designs come straight from the brain of the artist  and designer Sbranchio.  Besides being shiny, the laptop also features a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, UMTS/HSDPA SIM card slot, Bluetooth and WiFi, a webcam, 2GB DDR2 RAM and 16GB SSD.  For those with energy saving in mind, these come with an Energy Star label.  The limited edition Ergo FashionNote laptops will be available as of April 20th.

The LED Message Mouse with fan

Mice being created with fans are nothing new.  They’re nice to keep your hand cool when your office gets a little too warm.  After all, computers can produce a bit of heat and the more that are running in one room, the warmer it’s going to get.  However, leave it to Japan to take it about three steps further.  You have to love their flare for taking an average product and giving it an LED twist.

Each mouse has LED lights on the inside and you can program the mouse to display a personalized message.  If you’re wanting to change that message while you’re away from the computer, it even has a handy little remote control.  Of course, you’ll have to keep your messages a little short, the max amount of characters is 12.  These are being retailed in Japan for about $21 and might be a bit difficult to get a hold of outside of Japan.

Motion sensor alarm clock

Most alarm clocks work in this way - it comes with the all-important snooze function, shows the time and date in addition to getting you out of bed with an extremely shrill noise. This model takes a slightly different route, however, as it also integrates other features such as a calendar, temperature, color and motion-sensing. The motion-sensor works great as it allows you to move among the modes by waving your hand above the clock. You can view the temperature in both °C and °F modes, and have up to 8 sounds to choose from for the snooze function. Homeloo is carrying this for just $8.

USB Bamboo Mini Mill Fountain

If you’ve visited shops or stores with a strong Chinese or Japanese influence, then chances are you would’ve found one of those cat models with a waving hand to supposedly usher in good luck and a bamboo mill fountain that keeps on going with a never-ending water fountain mechanism working. The latter often evokes a sense of peace and tranquility, where water will flow from the bamboo to the fountain’s base, where a pump will then suck it all up to the top ad infinitum. Instead of plugging it into your power outlet, here’s a USB-powered version that aims to make your desktop a much more soothing place to be no matter how much work you have left to do. with three designs to choose from, you ought to find something for yourself at $25 a pop.
