Sony announces new Cyber-shots

sony-dscThe Cyber-shot line of digital cameras from Sony has made its mark for a number of years already, and this time round the consumer electronics giant has unveiled a couple more models for the masses - the DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1. These two models will bring unprecedented advances in low-light performance with approximately twice the sensitivity of cameras with traditional image sensors to the mass consumer market, thanks to them being the first Sony products that are fitted with Sony’s new “Exmor R” back illuminated CMOS sensor technology which help to improve shooting in low-light scenarios, making your images even clearer under such conditions by drastically reducing the amount of grain.

The DSC-TX1 is a pretty slim camera with a profile measuring a mere 16.5mm, carrying 10.2 megapixels of photographic goodness while boasting a streamlined, distinguished and curvy design that will definitely appeal to the younger generation who will not compromise both form and function in their gadgets. You will find that the touch panel allows you to scroll through your collection of images with but an effortless flick of your finger, while menus are easily accessible through the 3″ Clear Photo LCD Plus display. Apart from that, you will also find the TX1 equipped with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, letting you focus on an object from just 0.4″ away to capture superb macro shots that were once the domain of DSLRs. Other features include 4x telescopic zoom and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization.

As for the 10.2 megapixel WX1, this model is equipped with a 2.7″ Clear Photo LCD Plus display and measures slightly above 0.75″ slim, making it the perfect companion for DSLR owners who want a compact digital still camera that boasts high performance capabilities within. The WX1 will boast a Sony G lens that comes with an extraordinary wide angle 24-120mm 5x optical zoom, offering f/2.4 maximum aperture that allows nearly double the light gathering capability of conventional lenses. You can pick up the TX1 in silver, gray, pink and blue colors for $380 when it arrives later this September, while the WX1 will come in black for $350 when October rolls around.

Jewel Car Necklace USB Flash Drive

    usb-jewel-car

Is your girlfriend a geek at heart? Why, she might chide you for getting a new hard drive when you already have so many, but deep down inside she’s pleased as punch because she knows she’ll need the additional storage space as well to store torrents of her favorite drama series. Why not surprise her out of the blue with this $25 Jewel Car Necklace USB Flash Drive? It might not contain any Swarovski crystals, and neither does it hold a diamond, but hey - isn’t it the thought that counts? This supposedly “fashionable and elegant” piece of tech can be worn as a necklace, making it extremely portable. Inside, you will find 4GB of storage capacity to tote around important files from one place to another in style.

Loaded Dice

loaded-diceLike drinking games? How about the Loaded Dice? As with any good and self-respecting drinking game, this one is extremely easy to learn - all you need to do is fill the shot glass and slam it down, performing whatever you need to do according to the throw of the dice. The more intoxicated you get, the less inhibitions you have to perform according to the instructions given! This will definitely help you grow a pot belly in no time if you knock back a considerable number of glasses each time you play, but at least you have good fun while you’re at it!

Thiphone holds your iPhone in place

    thiphone-iphone_2

This is one of those accessories you buy only after you’ve given up on looking remotely cool.  Once that is all taken care of, this could be a handy item to have around.  For those that are slightly more fashion concsious you might want to continue your search elsewhere.  This accessory would defeinitely make things more convenient when you’re stuck sitting and waiting somewhere.

Of course there are times that it’d be easy to just have a stand for it.  However, not all of the places you’ll be will have some kind of table top for you to place that stand on.  For those situations when there isn’t a table, just wrap this strap around your leg and you can watch your iPhone hands-free.  It can be swiveled so that you can watch your iPhone in different positions.  What’s hilarious is they suggest this for commuters or truckers.  Frankly, the thought of a trucker using this does terrify me a bit.  You can purchase the strap for $30.

Verbatim Tuff-Clip Flash Drive is water resistant

    tuff-clip

If you’re notorious for breaking gadgets on a regular basis, then tougher gadgets are probably at the top of your wish list.  This Verbatim Tuff-Clip would make it so that you have to worry a lot less about damaging the drive.  It’s not indestructible, but it does at least make an effort to be much more durable than your average USB drive.  Plus it has that handy clip that would make it great to quickly snap onto a belt loop, keys or your backpack.

What gives this drive its durability is the use of ABS plastic, the enclosure itself is made out of it.  Plus the drive is water-resistant up to 100 feet, so you will still have to be a little careful, but you do have some protection.  It’s a little more than the average person would need, but then if you’re excessively clumsy, it might be nice to have.  You can purchase the drive in two different sizes.  The 4GB drive will cost you $29.99 and the 8GB $49.99.
