Maitre Mirror from Stocco with integrated touchscreen

    stocco-touch-screen-mirror_02

Although this incredibly hi-tech mirror looks more like a concept than something that is actually being sold, it is a real product.  These cool mirrors integrate a touch screen directly into the mirror.  That of course means you’re likely going to have the urge to clean it extremely often, since it’s going to accumulate fingerprints like crazy.  However, it’d be well worth the extra effort you would have to put in to keep it looking great.

The touchscreen console has a built-in radio, clock, MP3 player and even a barometer to finish it off.  The clock would be especially great when you’re in a rush and need to keep track of the time.  It is mounted on an aluminum frame that is flush with the mirror itself.  To plug your MP3 player into it, you’ll just need to access just below the screen on the underside of the mirror itself.  The mirror can currently be purchased in sizes ranging from 90cm on up to 2 meters.  How much it costs you will depend on your specifications, but it’s unlikely that it will be cheap.  You can read more on it on the Stocco website.

The USB Cetacean Whale Speaker

    usb-whale-speaker_3

Alright they call this a whale speaker, but personally it looks a touch more like some strange alien head of some sort.  It doesn’t help, that at what I consider the nose of it, it has a strange probe type thing to plug into your MP3 player.  Yes, probe type thing is a technical term.  At least I didn’t call it a thingamajig, I did show a little restraint there.  Since this is just a small speaker, you’ll be able to toss it into your pocket and have something to play your music out loud whenever you like.

It uses a Lithium Ion Battery that can of course be recharged when it’s needed.  It also has an on/off switch directly on the speaker, but there are no controls on it beyond that.  The 2W speaker weighs 49g and measures 100 x 75 x 34mm.  The speaker comes in two different colors, the red shown here and black.  The black actually looks a little less alien-like in my opinion.  You can purchase them on Brando for the affordable price of $13.

Placemat decked out with LED lights

    led-mat

Although typically placemats don’t belong anywhere near a gadget blog, Sylvania has added a slight twist to their placemats.  Usually placemats look anything but chic and far from hi-tech.  These jet black placemats have added LED lights to give a little extra accent lighting.  It won’t work to illuminate anything though, it’s purely meant for decorative purposes.  Likely for candlelight dinners and that sort of thing.

You won’t have to worry about spills either, since they have thankfully treated the mats with Scotchgard to make sure they stay protected.  You won’t be able to machine wash these though, for obvious reasons.  Instead you’ll have to spot clean it to make sure that it keeps looking good.  The lights are battery powered, although it doesn’t say what type batteries you’ll need.  Likely it’ll end up being some kind of a watch battery.  These are sold in sets of two, for one of the sets it will cost you $24.99 from Sylvania.
